The AAMC created VaccineVoices to provide our member institutions with practical tools and guidance as we all work to increase vaccine confidence among health care personnel and in our communities. The site is supported by a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as part of the larger national effort to build vaccine confidence in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many people have questions and concerns about COVID-19 vaccines — even health care personnel. This site aims to raise awareness and amplify promising practices in building vaccine confidence and equitably vaccinating the health care workforce.
The AAMC believes vaccinating health care personnel — both clinical and nonclinical — at academic medical centers must be a high priority.
Getting everyone in academic medicine vaccinated will protect health care personnel — who have been heroic during this pandemic — and their families. “Everyone” includes not only doctors and nurses, but patient coordinators, environmental services staff, food service personnel and vendors, and many other important hospital team members. The effort to vaccinate health care personnel can help build acceptance of the COVID-19 vaccination efforts in the greater community, and can assist in reaching herd immunity and defeating the pandemic in the United States.
VaccineVoices will provide new perspectives and resources that will enable our institutions to strengthen their vaccination efforts. Please get in touch if you have questions you’d like answered or story ideas to share.
