On Wednesday, September 20, 2023 the Children's Health Fund (CHF) hosted a virtual conversation about building vaccine confidence and access through mobile health outreach.
Declining vaccine confidence and growing barriers to access pose a significant challenge for underserved communities across the country. The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed systemic health inequities and underscored the urgency for increasing our attention and effort on improving access to care for medically underserved children and families.
In partnership with the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC), CHF is increasing education and access to COVID-19 and routine pediatric vaccines in under-resourced communities in three of our national network sites.
Clinical leaders from CHF national network partner programs in Dallas, South Florida, and Phoenix will share on-the-ground insights into their successful vaccine programming including key challenges, outreach strategies, and best practices.
Arturo Brito, MD, MPH, president and chief executive officer of CHF, will be joined by LaDon Dieu, BSN, RN, clinical program manager at the Phoenix Children’s Health Project, Melissa Gonzales, BSN, AMB-BC, nurse manager at the Dallas Children’s Health Project, Lisa Gwynn, DO, MBA, MSPH, medical director of the South Florida Children’s Health Project, and representatives from AAMC.
AAMC is partnering with the Centers for Diseases Control and Prevention (CDC) to build trust and promote confidence in COVID-19 and routine immunizations in healthcare personnel and communities disproportionately impacted by the pandemic. This fiscal year is focused on pediatric populations. AAMC has the capacity to leverage its large and diverse membership of academic medical centers and health systems to reach medically underserved communities.
CHF is partnering with AAMC to increase access to vaccines and build vaccine confidence in the national network partner communities of Phoenix, AZ; Miami-Dade County, FL; and Dallas, TX.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from some of the nation’s most innovative leaders in vaccine delivery and education, as well as the opportunity to ask questions and share experiences among other child health professionals.
